In the world of facial aesthetics, Botox and dermal fillers are two of the most popular and effective non-surgical treatments. While they’re often grouped together, they work in very different ways—and serve different purposes.
How They Work
Botox (Botulinum Toxin):
Botox temporarily relaxes specific facial muscles to soften the appearance of dynamic wrinkles—those caused by repeated facial expressions like frowning, squinting, or raising the eyebrows. Common treatment areas include the forehead, frown lines (11s), and crow’s feet.
Dermal Fillers:
Fillers are used to restore volume and enhance facial contours. They’re made from substances like hyaluronic acid that attract moisture and provide structure. Fillers are commonly used to treat under-eye hollows, nasolabial folds, cheek deflation, jawline definition, and lip enhancement. Most of the fillers that we use will slowly dissolve away over months.
